9-Day Novena for Expectant Mothers
Definition
A novena is a nine-day period of private or public prayer in the Catholic tradition to obtain special graces, rooted in the nine days the Apostles prayed between Jesus’ Ascension and Pentecost. This novena seeks God’s protection, health, and grace for expectant mothers and their unborn children, entrusting them to the care of Our Lady, Mother of God.

Meditation: Resting in God’s Care for Mother and Child
Find a quiet space and sit comfortably, placing a hand on your womb to connect with your baby. Take three deep breaths, inviting God’s presence. Visualize yourself and your child enveloped in a warm, radiant light, symbolizing God’s love. Recall a moment of joy or peace during your pregnancy—perhaps a kind gesture or a moment of connection with your baby. Whisper, “Thank You, Lord.” Now, imagine placing your fears—health concerns, labor, the future—into Mary’s arms, as she cradled Jesus. Hear her say, “My soul glorifies the Lord” (Luke 1:46). Feel God’s peace surrounding you and your baby. Spend five minutes in silence, resting in His care. End by praying, “Lord, I entrust my pregnancy to You. Protect and guide us.” Carry this peace into your day. Repeat daily during the novena to deepen your trust in God’s love for you and your child.
